STORY OF THE MONTH: February 2021

The Story of the Month is chosen from the Story of the Week winners announced from the past month.

The finalists for February were:

First Laugh by Marc Littman
Impressing an Old Flame at Our 25th High School Reunion by Bob Thurber
I Call My Mother by Jennifer Freed
Juniper by Michael Anthony Fagan
Unsinkable by David Derey

The winner of the February 2021 Story of the Month, and the $10 prize, is…

I Call My Mother

There’s so much depth to the moment conveyed in Jennifer’s story. There’s a pain of distance, both physical and emotional, but also a closeness and a sort of warmth felt from “observing” the relationship between the mother and her nurse. Excellent work.
