Behind them, cowhide whips cut through flesh, bone, and will.

It’s hard to say one ‘likes’ a story like this. By using parade in the opening, I thought these were daring boys, prankster boys, boys who wanted to be talked about. The use of hands first as a cover and then as a plea is strong. The last line….well, the last lines of anything are hard and you’ve got this one frighteningly controlled.
Those 50 words tell a tale as vivid as a High Definition T V, and horrifying as times past.
