Speaking to seniors, the emcee referred to iconic moments in vintage radio programs. Jack Benny’s vault and Fibber McGee’s closet struck a chord with everyone except one stone-faced woman.
“Was she afraid a smile of recognition would give away her age?” the speaker asked the organizer.

She was forward thinking!
I thought way back then it would be really funny if when Jack opened his vault, all the gold and coins fell out noisily like the junk leaving Fibber’s closet.
Thanks for your comment, Gene. That’s a potential cross-connection between the two programs I didn’t think of at the time, but I like it. I’m convinced listening to the radio in those days helped young people develop an active imagination. You’ve held on to yours as demonstrated in your 50-word stories.
Enjoyed this, John. Well done!
too funny! nearly snorted coffee out my nose.
thanks for the chuckle.
