Loved your story. I’ve learned all about “lowering the bar,” over the years! But the best was my misreading of your bio, I misread, “…has dabbled in creative writing for over 10 years…” for this, “…has dabbled in creative waiting for over 10 years…” In a way the misreading sort of ties your story together with your bio!
