Camping with Krayg

We were lost in the enchanted woods.

“Some shortcut, Krayg!” Tixen’s green eyes flashed.

“Relax,” I said. “Krayg, find some kindling. Night’s coming.”

We huddled close around the flames.

“Now,” I said, “a spell to read the stars… Where did my wand go? Krayg, what did you use for kindling?”

A Walk In The Black Forest

“I’m not going in there.”

The wind whistled through the looming trees at the forest’s edge.

“You’re just being paranoid,” scoffed Meltun.

Eadin protested: “No…”

“Then come on; follow me!” Melton plunged in. He never reemerged.

Eadin wondered, later, how much longer his story might have been if he’d followed.

The Awkward Commuting of Dragon-Hunter Darla

Darla’s commute was awful: it took two hours to get from her downtown apartment to the wastelands, where she hunted the secret dragons.

Her friends thought she was a paralegal. They might ask uncomfortable questions if she moved to the suburbs, and it was already hard enough hiding the scars.

The Evilest Wizard

One day an evil wizard turned a lizard into a goat. “I am the evilest of wizards!” he said. Then the goat kicked him. He turned it back into a lizard so it couldn’t kick him again. Then the real evilest wizard sued him for misusing the Evilest Wizard trademark.
