Captain Crunch had a parrot, Polly, who chanted “Treasure Chest” four times in a row every ten minutes. The crew members hated it.
When the Captain was sleeping, the crew taught Polly to say, “Ahoy,” so it sounded like the crew was listening to their captain.
The crew was happy.

Captain Whiskers the kitty pirate had barely escaped her last adventure. She may have lost two of her nine lives, but she was resolute. This was why she was afforded the authority of her vessel, the Fuzzy Wave. As captain, she was relieved the crew couldn’t mock her Elizabethan collar.

Waiting in line, Fangtooth Redbeard stretched and his hook accidentally poked the plump woman next to him.
“Arrgh, me wench,” he said, “I beseech ye pardon.”
She tightly gripped her Tupperware container and frowned.
“Sir,” she said, “I’m afraid you’re in the wrong place. This is a Pie Rating contest.”

“I was trying to figure out ways to Shanghai teetotalers, when I remembered scratching my head used to help me concentrate. Unfortunately, I forgot about this,” the pirate said, holding up his right arm.

I’ve teased a “Pirate Week” a couple of times over the past few months, and now I’m announcing that it is Officially On.
For the week of February 20 to 24, 2012, every story posted to 50WS will be pirate-themed. I’ll be looking for as many submissions as I can get. Forget one story per day, or even two stories per day: I’m going to post as many stories each day during that week as seems appropriate, so get writing and send your work in!
