Temperatures rose, sea level too.
Melting glaciers flooded more land.
Some struggled to reduce emissions.
Others shrugged, undaunted by growing evidence
Of fires, floods, and environmental chaos.
Politicians dithered, totally impotent.
Humanity stood staring at the abyss,
Desperate for saviours, but none appeared.
Look to yourselves, a tiny voice said.

He came to my childhood bedroom every night: silent, colourless, translucent, sad.
One night he was waving his arms, telling me to get out. Then he vanished.
I ran outside and hid in the woods.
That night my father, deeply disturbed, strangled my mother.
I never saw my saviour again.
After trying a lot of different jobs, Arthur Brown still has ambitions, but he’s not sure what they are.

Well, this was certainly a surprise. Then again, he should have known it might happen. Things like this were always happening to him.
But still, it would have been nice to have had a bit of a heads-up this time. If he had known, he probably would have worn pants.
