Captain Whiskers’ meals for the voyage were already arriving, as rats scurried up the mooring onto the ship.

After observing a customer talk like a pirate while steadily lowering his voice, so his listener had to lean in really close before being sucker punched, the proprietor of the Thirsty Parrot bar added an extra admonition to the “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” sign, namely: “No Arrgh-guile Socks.”

I was never a good pirate. The day I joined, the captain’s pants were on fire. I didn’t do it, but I’m also a terrible liar.

“True love.”
