PIRATE WEEK – KING KOOL: Captain Whiskers is Saving on Her Grocery Budget

February 22, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Submissionscat, cute, funny, King Kool, kitten, kitty, pirate weekTim

The Fuzzy Wave, captained by the kitty pirate Captain Whiskers, made its triumphant return to port. Her crew was on shore leave, instructed to return Sunday with provisions for the next voyage. Captain Whiskers’ meals for the voyage were already arriving, as rats scurried up the mooring onto the ship.

PIRATE WEEK – JOHN H. DROMEY: Fashion Statement

February 22, 2012Pirate Week, Puns and Wordplay, Submissionsargyle, John H Dromey, pirate week, punTim

After observing a customer talk like a pirate while steadily lowering his voice, so his listener had to lean in really close before being sucker punched, the proprietor of the Thirsty Parrot bar added an extra admonition to the “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” sign, namely: “No Arrgh-guile Socks.”

John H. Dromey has had flash fiction published in a number of print anthologies, as well as online at Liquid Imagination, three minute plastic, Thrillers, Killers ’n’ Chillers, and elsewhere.

PIRATE WEEK – RUARIDH BUCHANAN: A New Life

February 22, 2012Artistic, Pirate Week, Submissionsbury, map, past, pirate week, Ruaridh Buchanan, treasureTim

Doubloons without number. The crown of some distant land. A necklace that once hung on the neck of a Shah’s daughter. All this and more he had buried in the sand and in the past. The map was a temptation he could ill afford.

He should burn it.

Shouldn’t he?

Ruaridh Buchanan is making his first forays into writing down the thoughts and stories that whirl through his head when he should really be concentrating on something more important like earning a living. Doubtless this will result in bankruptcy or at the very least a blog at some stage in the near future.

PIRATE WEEK – LINNEA S.: Pirate Lessons

February 21, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Submissionsliar liar pants on fire, Linnea S, pirate weekTim

I was never a good pirate.  The day I joined, the captain’s pants were on fire.  I didn’t do it, but I’m also a terrible liar.

I learned several things while I was on board:  work hard, you will likely die the first day, and I hate being a pirate.

PIRATE WEEK – KEAB42: A Cautionary Tale

February 21, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Submissions@keab42, funny, pirate week, Somalian piratesTim

Blackbeard gazed balefully into the bay, watching the Jolly Roger hanging limply from the mast of his empty ship. He sighed as he turned inland to watch his crew being marched toward their prison cells.

He cursed silently. This was the last time he was going to sail to Somalia.

PIRATE WEEK – BRANDON KING: Giving In

February 21, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, SubmissionsBrandon King, fashion, hook, peer pressure, pirate accessories, pirate weekTim

People ask me how I got my hook. I tell them that it was lost in a daring gambit to defend my ship against pirates.

That’s a lie. It’s true that pirates took my hand and gave me my hook, but…

Let’s just say that I buckled under peer pressure.

Brandon King is a volunteer for Leading Edge Magazine, an awesome sci-fi/fantasy publication that will publish and/or edit your short stories, poems, or artwork.

PIRATE WEEK – KING KOOL: Captain Whiskers is Stranded

February 21, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Submissionscat, cute, funny, King Kool, kitten, pirate weekTim

Captain Whiskers, the famous kitty pirate, cocked her head as her tail swept against the deck. The mast of her ship, the Fuzzy Wave, had been whittled down and snapped, stranding them at sea. She regretted her decision to allow the crew to use the mast as a scratching post.

PIRATE WEEK – LIZ SHOCKEY: Who Did You Say You Were?

February 21, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Submissionsbeg, Liz Shockey, pirate, pirate week, The Princess Bride, true love, WestleyTim

“Arrr.” A sharp blade lowered o’er a young sailor’s neck.

“Please don’t kill me,” the young man begged.

“Give me one reason not to run you through,” the pirate croaked.

“True love.”

“Well alright, then. You’re free to go.”

“What did you say your name was?”

“The Dread Pirate Roberts.”

Liz is a freelance writer who loves to allude to classic movies, hence the Princess Bride quote in her pirate contribution.

PIRATE WEEK – AUSTIN C.: Captain Paul’s Poem

February 21, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Poetry, SubmissionsAustin C., Davy Jones, drinking, pirate week, poem, rumTim

Hear the tale of  the infamous Captain Paul,

Whose ship was sunk by a lucky cannonball

However, just before the ship started sinking,

Captain Paul took the rum and went down drinking.

It’s said of the great pirate, God bless his bones,

that he is now drinking with Davy Jones.

Austin is a new writer who enjoys writing short (tiny) stories… and occasionally prose stories.

PIRATE WEEK – JOHN KUJAWSKI: The Pirate Gun

February 20, 2012Amusing, Pirate Week, Submissionscostume, fight, gun, Halloween, John Kujawski, pirate weekTim

Jeff said it was a silly toy.  It was a wooden gun from my halloween costume.  I went as a pirate that year.

Jeff always laughed at me. He said the gun could do no damage.  I was the one laughing when I hit him in the head with it.

John has interests that range from guitars to the Incredible Hulk.  He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and still lives there to this day.  You can hear him on the weekly podcast at www.comicbookshowdown.com.
