Sparks fly and I am born.
Worship me, love me, share me.
Build me up and I’ll warm you right through.
Searing. Sizzling. Spitting.
Can you take the heat?
I’m smokin’ red and volatile.
Scared?
Gonna smother me?
Extinguish me?
Ban me?
Good luck.
I am story and I burn.

YES!!!
Thanks karin! I wrote this on International Women’s Day, inspired by the vulnerability and strength shown by women sharing their stories, and equally enraged by concurrent efforts to silence or diminish so many voices. So pleased it resonated for you.
Another writing Queenslander here. Love your story. Why not join writeupnorth australia on Facebook? Online writing group. Anyway great story, very evocative. Wish I’d written it.
Hi Jane! (furious waving). I love meeting writing Aussies in these international waters – and a Queenslander as well – happy days! Thanks for your very kind words – I’ll check out that group right now :)
Read it three times — so easy — just let it roll out — and down the page.
And there is a sense of completeness that is rare with work of this length.
Hi Leo! Thank you so much for your read and lovely comments – very much appreciated!
