My sister is in pieces under a stone flower vase. She has missed three years and is no older than she was before. Three years of blinking wrists, numbers on radios and ovens, and she is still the thing that’s absent. How brazen time is, proceeding this blithely without her.
Cheryl Snell’s books include poetry and fiction.
Excellent piece: Really brings home the loss of someone and how it all goes on; despite, you not wanting it to.
Thank you, Steve! Glad it’s relatable.
Excellent story, Cheryl. Really liked the final line.
Thanks so much, Shoshauna!
This is beautiful.
Thank you, Alastair! Much appreciated.
Extraordinary piece, Cheryl Snell!
Thanks so much, Chelsea!
This is wonderful. It’s exactly how grief affects me.
For me, Sis has been gone for almost 10 years. This hit me right in the feels.
Thanks for your visceral response! I’m so sorry about your sister.
