Mum loved cats and dogs but wouldn’t let me have either.
Dad explained: “Mum gets too upset when they die. Our cat died before you were born and her heart almost broke. We vowed we would never have another.”
Mum passed last month. Now I understand. I don’t want another.

Loved this thanks for sharing
Thank you, Yvonne :)
Terrific story. Thank you! 😊
Thank you, Deborah. Much appreciated.
I was never allowed pets either. It is a great deprivation.
Thank you! And, I agree. There’s some truth to this story. My Mum was so upset when she lost her cat when I was a baby that my Dad said she couldn’t have any more pets. We did end up with a dog and when I was 16 I was allowed to have a cat. This year both Mum and Dad passed and both are irreplaceable.
Great story, Sandra.
Thank you, Raymond. I appreciate it :)
Having recently lost a very beloved cat, this story resonated deeply with me. Thank you, Sandra!
Thank you, Lisa. And I am very sorry for your loss. Our pets leave a large hole in our hearts, as do parents. It took me a long time to adopt another cat after my Polly passed.
Excellent story!
Thank you, Dart. I appreciate it.
