One.
Tom was surprised by your skin color when you came out, but that never affected his steadfast love for you. You were always his.
Two.
Grandma held a two-year vigil in the cemetery while waiting for the bell above your grave to ring. Next time we’re going with cremation.

Dear Robert. I was reading here in school. Then i decided to count how many words where in you story. I realised that you have written 51 words NOT 50 so i belive that you need to be banned for life on this website
Dear Aksel, “two-year” is a compound word. Despite being composed of two words that can each stand alone, it is counted as a single word because it functions as a single syntactic unit. Thank you for your engagement with the story and the site!
Dear Aksel,
I would agree with you, but Tim insisted that “two-year” had to be counted as one word due to the hyphen so he actually made me ADD a word. By the way, good luck with school. Study hard, especially spelling.
Hello there Robert. Im a student who absolutely LOVES to read. But then i came across a problem with your text. Its 51 words and NOT 50 words. Which it supposed to be. I dont think you know how many young readers you have dissapointed now. This is so not cool Rob. I really hope that the next time you are going to write a 50 words story. NOT 51, but 50 words story. Your actually going to be using 50 and NOT 51. Thats all.
Hi Agatha. See my reply to Aksel, above!
Dear Agatha,
Thanks for reading my silly stories so carefully. As Tim describes above, “two-year” actually counts as one (compound) word, so the word count is correct (surprised me too). Good luck with your studies in school. Work hard, and pay attention to the punctuation chapters.
