Calvin the Great set off on a voyage. He sailed his ship all the way across the lake.
On the other side, Queen Larissa the Beautiful had prepared a majestic picnic.
Calvin conquered the Queen and her sandwiches, filled his ship with captives and plunder, and returned home a hero.
“Aren’t the flowers pretty?” I asked my young son during our picnic.
He shrugged noncommittally.
“Oh, come on,” I pressed him. “You can’t really care that little. Imagine how you’d feel if all the daisies disappeared!”
“If all the Daisies were gone,” he said, “all the Donalds would be lonely.”
