that I’m doing this
I want to be free
of this nightmare
no more weights tied
around my mind.
I’m sorry that
I get it wrong.
And I’m sorry
that I say I’m sorry
more than I say
I love you.

Falling, falling, crashing hard into the cold earth.
A tunnel without start or end, no light, only darkness.
Flickers of a glimpse—something is possible.
Fumbling forward for escape, grasping for the last.
Tumbling through, stumbling out—such blazing light.
A cliffside, toes curled over the edge, unable to fall.
