When I was young, I wished I could ride my bike around the block, coasting downhill all the way.
Since I got my degree in physics I know that’s impossible.
I now wish that the integral of the gradient of the gravitational potential around a closed loop could be negative.
Harry Demarest received a BA in physics from Reed College in 1969, and a PhD in planetary and space physics from UCLA in 1975.
OMG I Love this!
I’m thinking of those poor kids who had to walk 5 miles to school with the ‘integral of the gradient of the gravitational potential positive both ways!’
Very Funny! Still smiling.
Same dreams, more language. Enjoyed the word play as well as the idea of summer days of coasting.
Great story! Tickled by scientific funny bone.
Thank you Michael. I still envy your story of the week award from 2014.
Harry, I’m not smart enough to be amused by that, but if you wrote it I’m sure it’s very funny. Your biggest admirer
