The wind caused the leaves to whisper. Whispers about times past when the trees could live without the threat of death by loggers. Times when the water course provided crystal clear drinking water for their roots. Times when copious salmon offered their spent bodies as nutrients. How times have changed.

… the answer is blowin’ in the wind….
So sad but true how times have changed.
Loved this line “…when the trees could live without the threat of death by loggers.”
Beautifully written
Really beautiful! And true ❤️
Hi Chris,
I loved this piece. Perfectly describes the times we live in, but also invites speculation about what lies ahead. Well done!
Your story is lovely, and I hesitate to darken it with another 50-Word, which takes your side, but from a different direction of history.
Flip-Side, the Wind
The wind turns blades that spin generators, pushing electrons into our phones, which we allow free entry into our brains, lighting a fire that burns brighter than the sun, illuminating our way forward to an imaginary heaven of distraction and ease and away from shadowy consequences. How times haven’t changed.
