CHARLIE DUNN: Send Heaven the Air Pollution

His cold silhouette was hunched over. He wasn’t even enjoying his cigarette. It was like a chore to him. He took his stabs at it quickly while he paced around on the balcony.

He always blew the smoke upwards. This was probably the only time his eyes looked towards God.

CHARLIE DUNN: Tracer Bullet

PI’s apartments are worthless, but this was mine.

The thug inside had broken my seal on the door. The tape was like my services: cheap but effective. I felt less fear than the tape, though.

I relieved my holster of its lopsidedness.

The doorknob was cold.  Soon, he would be.

CHARLIE DUNN: Full Count

James approached the plate nervously. The pitcher was dripping in the heat.

Previous attempts had excited the audience, but they were foul.

Four pitchers and ten full Counts later, James was crowned grand champion. He just barely made it home safe from the Royal Count’s Eating Contest before throwing up.
