Adventures of the Purple Stuffed Worm

My son told me his purple stuffed worm was alive. “I caught it sneaking out last night.”

“Where was it going?” I asked.

“To eat some tomatoes.”

I laughed, kissed him goodnight, and took my flashlight out to the garden.

Sure enough, I caught that sneaky tomato thief around midnight.

If All the Daisies Were Gone

“Aren’t the flowers pretty?” I asked my young son during our picnic.

He shrugged noncommittally.

“Oh, come on,” I pressed him. “You can’t really care that little. Imagine how you’d feel if all the daisies disappeared!”

“If all the Daisies were gone,” he said, “all the Donalds would be lonely.”

Woefully Unprepared

Their sheds and bunkers were overloaded with guns, ammo, rations, reactors, and even entertainment, everything they thought they needed. For five years they had readied themselves for the invaders’ arrival.

Psychologically incapable of fighting back, they were overrun.

The Feud Between Ted and the Wind

The spiteful wind was fierce and sharp. Ted tried to escape, but it chased him, cackling, and sheared the hair right off his head.

He snuck home, frantic with embarrassment. Naturally Melanie was the first person to stop by.

“You’re bald!” she exclaimed. “I love it.”

“Darn,” cursed the wind.

Caring for Kimmy

Hailey looked concernedly into Kimmy’s watery eyes and said, “You look as sad as a koala bear with strep throat.”

Kimmy coughed and winced.

Hailey reached up into the eucalyptus tree and took Kimmy in her arms. The ailing marsupial snuggled up.

This was why Hailey had become a veterinarian.

Samantha is Special

Dad was jolted awake and screamed. Then he screamed again, but differently.

Mom ran in. Dad lay face-down, groaning.

Little Samantha stood beside him, holding a sparking wire.

Dad raised his head, and Mom saw… a toddler’s face?

“Samantha, what did you do?!”

“I electrocuted him,” she grinned.
