Looking for a Special Kind of Woman

I asked Mom once why I had an uncle but no aunt. I figured they were a bundle deal.

Mom said, “Your uncle has three defining characteristics: veiny biceps, chest hair, and a fanny pack full of beef jerky.”

NEWS: Draw for Contest Winner Will Happen Soon

I had intended to do the draw for the winner of the contest to win a print copy of Fifty-Word Stories: Volume One today, but my schedule isn’t allowing for it, unfortunately.

So the draw is postponed until tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. I’ll post the results here and on Twitter. Thank you to everyone who entered!

Which One is a Pig?

“Pick a pig,” said the farmer. “Oh, Pig 3’s half price.”

Suzanna surveyed the oinking, grunting shapes wallowing in the sty. “Are you sure they’re all actually pigs?”

“I only ask,” said Suzanna, “because Pig 3 looks like a stump with a tape recorder.”

But Jonathan never said “Please” or “Thank you” to his buttons, and they got fed up.

So during an important meeting, they ran away.

Causing a Reaction

There was a complete stranger in the house, and no one else seemed to care. Jill and Bobby even seemed to like the trespassing feline.

So Mitsy began sneezing and sniffling and mewling.

She knew how things worked: they’d never keep the new cat if it was creating allergy problems.

I Learned Everything That Mattered Outside the Classroom

I learned a lot during my time at university. Like how to tie a perfect blindfold knot, how to throw a knife accurately, how to keep my bearings when I’m dizzy…

It was an eclectic skillset, and certainly not employable, but I won my wife’s heart at the county fair.
